DO YOU EVER WONDER IF YOU ARE MAKING GOOD QUALITY DECISIONS?
I have always been very intrigued with the concept of how we think and make decisions decides the quality of our lives.
For many of us, we think a lot.
To a point of … over thinking.
And when we overthink about making a decision – we just worry so much about what if I make a wrong decision. We worry about the worst case scenario as we have been told that “Hope for the best, but be prepared for the worst”. And then we imagine the worst case scenario in its full vividity and we go into – A Paralysis of Analysis, which is when we procrastinate as we are in so much self doubt.
If this sounds like you think I am sure this article will be of interest and perhaps some value.
What does “Decision” mean?
The word Decision comes from Incision. In Latin it means to cut away completely. This literally means “cutting off all possibilities”. And this is what allows us to make a single focused decision and stick to it.
The quality of our life is a direct reflection of the quality of decisions we make.
Making good decisions is a skill that can be learned. Decision making is not something with which we are innately born, but merely a step by step process that is usually ascertained from life experience.
Making good decisions requires us to balance the seemingly antithetical forces of emotion and rationality. We must be able to predict the future, accurately perceive the present situation, have insight into the minds of others and deal with uncertainty.
Most of us are ignorant of the mental processes that lie behind our decisions, but this has become a hot topic for investigation.
Regardless of whether it is about deciding to lose those extra pounds or to change your career paths, learning how to make better quality decisions is one skill that will go a long way in helping you lead a fulfilled life.Successful people don’t always make right decisions,
They make their decisions right.
My Top 5 Tips to Making Better Quality Decision
Warning: You might find the fifth one a bit crazy … but it really works 😄
Tip #1:
Don’t let stress get the better of you. It’s easy to feel stressed out and anxious when you’re facing a tough choice. You might tend to rush your decisions without thinking them through, or you avoid making a decision at all because the stress has put you off your game. If you’re feeling anxious about a decision, try to manage your stress so that it doesn’t cloud your thinking. Go for a walk on the beach. Hit up a yoga class or hang out with friends.
